This contest was going so well that Amy Pixton agreed to extend it AND add another winner!!!  Now, 2 winners will receive a set of 3 Indestructibles books!  The contest will run until she and I decide to close it so you may continue to enter until then.

I stumbled across Indestructibles totally by accident one day and decided to contact the creator and founder about sponsoring a giveaway for G4M.

“What are Indestructibles?”, you ask.  Indestructibles are short and sweet picture books that are designed to be, what else, indestructible.  

“Indestructibles are the brainstorm of Amy Pixton, the mother of triplets, who came up with the idea of printing books on rip proof, waterproof, paperlike material after bits of traditional board books found their way into her babies’ mouths.  Inspired by handmade books her mother in law, artist Kaaren Pixton, had painted for her children on high-density, nonwoven fabric, Amy experimented with the material using various printing techniques and came up with Indestructibles, 100% non-toxic, 100% washable, and 100% durable.” 

Kaaren Pixton’s colorful artwork in this precious series is sure to stand the test of time and many, many book “hungry” children to come, thanks to an idea from her daughter in law, Amy, to create the “Indestructible”, baby proof book.  And the wordless pictures encourage mom to talk to baby rather than read ”at” baby, as reading typically does.  Mommy and baby interact more.  Brilliant idea! 

CJ has always loved to look at books.  Both of my boys loved reading also so we have quite a collection of books with missing and torn pages.  Well, because I am OCD and CJ’s room is just so beautiful, I wanted to start a new collection of books for her.  I have a few that have paper pages that I love and I knew they would be written on or torn up so I have put them up high to where she can’t reach them…yet.  But I wanted her to be able to go and get a book whenever she wanted to read.  I decided to purchase several of the board books.  CJ doesn’t chew on books anymore (we do have baby friends who do!) but we have 2 VERY destructive dogs that do.

Anyway, CJ is always leaving her books on the floor.  The dogs don’t waste a minute trying to eat them.  Terri, the Boston Terrier, was the first to try and destroy our Indestructibles.  At first, I scolded her.  Then I remembered I was about to have the privilege of writing a review for the book.  I decided to put it to the ultimate test.  When she decided to move onto something else, the book was still intact.  It was a little slimey and wet but I got a clorox wipe and wiped it right down and it was dry in no time at all.  Yay for Indestructibles!

While I would love to see a few “worded”, in addition to picture, books from Indestructibles, CJ enjoyed looking at the pictures and making up her own words.  The book we were given to review was “Wiggle!  March!”  CJ, with her vivid and wild imagination, created numerous stories about these animals found on a farm.  I look forward to hearing many more of her stories, inspired by this book, as she continues to grow and develop.
